LOCAL BUSES

Izumo City and the Taisha coast

The main visitor buses leave JR Izumoshi Station platform 1 for Izumo Taisha and Hinomisaki. Other city and rural routes use platforms 1 and 2.

出雲管内路線バス

Boarding platform12

Routes from JR Izumoshi Station are run by several operators. Platform 1 covers Izumo Taisha, Hinomisaki and Kami-Enya Garage; platform 2 covers Oda (小田, in Taki) and Izumo Susa. Additional local routes to Daiji, Hiebara, Sotozono, Heisei Onsen and Mitoya may use nearby stops or separate operator timetables. Ichibata local buses accept ICOCA and other nationwide transport IC cards; payment rules differ on other operators and community services.

JR Izumoshi Station to Izumo Taisha

大社線・日御碕線

Boarding platform1

Use platform 1 and check for 出雲大社 or 日御碕 on the display. Taisha services take different routes via Yume Town, AEON Mall or Shimane Winery, but all reach the Taisha area. For the shrine approach, check whether your trip uses 出雲大社バスターミナル, 出雲大社連絡所 or 電鉄大社駅 and choose the stop shown in that timetable. The same bus corridor also serves the Former JR Taisha Station and the Shimane Museum of Ancient Izumo area on selected patterns.

一畑バス

Inasa Beach and Hinomisaki

日御碕線

Boarding platform1

The Hinomisaki line continues beyond Izumo Taisha to Inasa Beach, Hinomisaki Shrine, the lighthouse and Uryu. It is the only ordinary through bus from JR Izumoshi Station for this coast, but there are few trips and not every Taisha bus continues past the shrine area. Build the return trip first; walking from Izumo Taisha to Inasa Beach is an alternative when the direct bus does not fit.

COMMUNITY TRANSPORT

Hirata, Taki and outer districts

Municipal buses and shared transport cover districts beyond the main network. Some services are useful to visitors, but many are infrequent or require registration.

出雲市生活バス・定額乗合交通

Izumo City lists Hirata community buses, the Taki circular bus, the Usagi line, fixed-fare shared transport and welfare services separately. Hirata and Taki buses cost ¥200 per ride for adults, while the Usagi line costs ¥410. Fixed-fare Enmusubi shared transport in Koryo/Jinzai and Sada requires an application before booking and is not a practical walk-up option for a short visit. Welfare and senior support services also have eligibility rules.

Hirata community buses

平田生活バス

Nine routes radiate from the Unshu-Hirata area toward coastal settlements, Ichibata Yakushi and Gakuenji. The adult flat fare is ¥200. Some route sheets are also published in English and Portuguese, but trips can be very limited and may not connect neatly with Ichibata Railway. For Gakuenji, read the city's special return-trip caution before travelling.

Taki circular bus and Usagi line

多伎循環バス・うさぎ線

The Taki circular bus links JR Oda Station (小田駅 in Taki, not Ōda City) and communities around Taki for ¥200 per adult ride; its timetable changed on 14 March 2026. The Usagi line links the Taisha area with Inome, Udo and Sagiura for ¥410. Both are sparse local services rather than frequent sightseeing loops, so confirm the exact operating day and the last return before leaving the station area.
